Summer Fayre and Open Day
Alzheimer Scotland Summer Fayre
I also met the wives of two gentlemen who have dementia and who were once in my Walking Group. I was sad to hear that their situation has deteriorated quite rapidly, and one of them is now in a Care Home.
It was a busy morning with many people coming in for soup and a sandwich. I had a lot of visitors to my stall and once again my Ellie Gift Set, which includes my book The Forgetful Elephant and a cute Ellie Hand Puppet, went down a treat.

I also managed to talk to Provost Pat Reid, who was very interested in the work that I am doing to raise children’s awareness of dementia. He offered to do whatever he can to help get my new Ellie Memory Helper Pack in to all of the local Primary Schools.
He also opened the new Dementia Village which the Care Home has designed. It includes an old fashioned Grocer Shop and Post Office which will enable residents to reminisce about times gone by.
I am delighted that they also now have one of my Ellie Memory Helper Packs, which they can lend to families who may be having a difficult time explaining to their children about grandma or grandpa’s dementia.
All in all, two wonderful events which we have been invited back to again next year.
If you know of any other venues which may like me to bring my Ellie Stand to feature raising children’s awareness of dementia please contact me. Suggestions are welcome in the comments below.
