Hand Puppets Bring a Story Alive
Storytelling is something that is enjoyed by all children, regardless of their age. When a hand puppet is introduced, it helps bring the story to life and makes it even more exciting for them. During my school visits over the past few years, I have found that the children love the hand puppets which I take along. They enjoy the interaction, and it often helps them to remember the story better. This is why I have created my most recent resource, my Ellie Gift Set, to make it fun for children to understand memory loss.
Ellie Gift Set Contents
As well as a copy of The Forgetful Elephant book and a bookmark featuring a poem from the book, the set includes an adorable little Ellie hand puppet, which will allow a child to interact whilst having the story read to them. These all come in a lovely purple cotton bag which will help to protect them. The bag will also allow them to carry their book and hand puppet to visit friends and family to share the story with them.
Dementia and other conditions associated with memory loss are often very delicate subjects to approach with a child. My hope is that by using my Ellie Gift Set, it will make talking about this topic less stressful for a parent and a fun way for a child to learn about it.
Shops Selling Ellie Gift Sets
Over the past few weeks I have been taking my new gift set to various outlets which sell unique gifts for children. I am delighted with the response that I have received from them: so far, four shops have taken the Gift Sets to sell, including the delightful Far From The Madding Crowd shop with Little Owls bookshop in High Street, Linlithgow, and Maisie’s Gift Shop in South Queensferry. They love the story and the idea of the little Ellie Hand Puppet which goes along with it. They are looking forward to introducing this new storytelling concept as a meaningful children’s gift.
All suggestions for places which would be happy to sell the Ellie Gift Set – in the high street or online – are welcome: please send me an email from the Contact page.
